About
I am a father, film practitioner, screenwriter and academic and my research focuses on the interaction of cinematic audio and vision and the relationship between these elements and the creative practice of screenwriting. I completed my Masters of Creative Arts in 2006 (published 2007) and my PhD in 2024. The thesis explored the creative practice of screenwriting to locate specific screenplay traits and techniques which relates the transference of cinematic sound from the page to the screen.
I have worked for the Curtin University Film Department, as a lecturer in film at the SAE Institute, as well as a freelance editor and digital short-form creator for many years, and have conceptualised, written, and directed, as well as edited, color graded, and sound mixed short dramas, music videos, corporate work, documentary films and experimental work. Currently I work as a lecturer in Media and Communication in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Western Australia.
